What is the purpose of this site?

To make it as easy as possible for Dave Matthews Band fans to obtain quick and easy access to the live recorded DMB bootleg concerts they are looking for without dealing with pain in the ass admins and having to be in some elite underground group.

Isnt it illegal to have these mp3s?

Fortunately no... The Dave Matthews Band is one of the few cool bands (along with Phish, Bella Fleck, the Dead, etc...) who allow live taping "bootlegging" at their concerts for trading and collecting purposes only. MP3s are just another extension of this system making it possible to trade "taped" concerts via the Mpeg Layer 3 audio codec over the internet. This way traders that have access to the internet and can create mp3s from tapes and distribute and trade them online without dealing with such things as bad traders, postage, waiting days for the tapes to arrive, generation loss and other typical problems associated with the "tape trading" system.

I cant download the files and keep getting password is incorrect?

Most likely the server is full and wont any more users at the current time. Wait a few minutes and try again later.

I can never access your files because its always too busy?

Well if you have a server of your own and are willing to donate server space and some bandwidth we could help relieve this problem.

I want to be a mirror for your site, what do I need to do?

First of all you are a god or goddess if you are asking this question. In order to become a mirror I will need the following things.

1. A personal account for myself so that I may upload concerts to your mirror site.
2. A minimum of at least 100 megs of space to host a concert and for extra upload space to help the collection grow.
3. A relatively high speed connection to the net. This could either be a connection from your dorm room, a cable modem, or even a web hosting service.
4. A user account with the login and password being dmbmp3 so that people can access your mirror site though the DMBMP3 mirror site database.
5. Seperate Mirror op account for the op of each mirror site so that they may freely access your site without a wait.

What are the benefits of being a mirror site?

First of all you get to communicate with me... hehe just kidding. Anyway the main benefit would be that because you are an op of a mirror site you could get continually updated DMB concerts on your site without having to wait for access to new concerts. Also you would also obtain a personal account on each mirror site so you wouldn't have to wait to download a concert you do not have yet.

Can I run a server without getting in trouble?

Not to scare you but this is where it gets touchy. Depending on who is giving you internet access you would have to check if it is legal to host a relatively small ftp server without wasting too much of the networks resources. I know that my roadrunner service got pulled because they deemed that I was running a server that was taking up too much bandwidth. If you are concerned about this you can limit the number of connections and also limit the bandwidth of your server so that you wouldnt be putting a noticable strain on the networks resources.

Who is Brian Kenyon and why are you doing this?

Well because I love Dave Matthews Band and am somewhat of a computer geek; going to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute the 4th most Wired school in the nation (4th). My major is a four letter work EMAC which stands for Electronic Media Arts and Communications. In a nutshell it is teaching me to be a New Media Digital Artist and my dream job is special effects in the movie industry.
